More about Dylan…

Dylan Stein is a New York–born and raised healthcare practitioner integrating acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, functional medicine, and mindfulness into individualized, evidence-informed care. With deep roots in New York City, Dylan brings together the traditions of Chinese medicine with contemporary approaches to health, nutrition, lifestyle, and mind-body medicine.

As both a licensed acupuncturist and nurse practitioner, Dylan has spent his career working at the intersection of traditional healing practices and modern medicine. In New York, he provides acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to children, adolescents, young adults, and adults of all ages. Treatment is individualized to each person's health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals, with an emphasis on integrating Chinese medicine thoughtfully alongside conventional medical care.

For children, adolescents, and young adults, Dylan also offers functional medicine consultations. Drawing on extensive experience in pediatric and adolescent healthcare, his functional medicine practice takes a broad view of health and considers how nutrition, sleep, movement, stress, environment, medications, laboratory findings, and other factors may contribute to symptoms and overall well-being. Recommendations are individualized, developmentally appropriate, and intended to complement a patient's existing primary and specialty medical care.

Mindfulness is another important part of Dylan's approach to health and healing. A longtime meditation practitioner with formal mindfulness training, he incorporates practical mindfulness-based approaches for interested patients. These practices can help patients develop a different relationship with stress, attention, emotional regulation, and the experience of living with illness or persistent symptoms. Mindfulness may be integrated with acupuncture, Chinese medicine, or functional medicine when appropriate, while remaining entirely optional and tailored to each patient's needs.

New York remains at the center of Dylan's personal and professional story. Born and raised in New York City, he has spent much of his life living, studying, teaching, and practicing healthcare in the city, while maintaining a longstanding connection to the Hudson Valley. He has worked at premier hospitals as a nurse practitioner, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Columbia University, and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. These experiences have shaped a clinical approach that values careful listening, curiosity, collaboration, and respect for the different cultural traditions, identities, families, and beliefs that influence how people understand health and healthcare.

Dylan currently provides acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine exclusively in New York for patients of all ages. His functional medicine practice is dedicated specifically to children, adolescents, and young adults in New York, New Jersey, Arizona, and Minnesota.

Whether a family is seeking a more comprehensive perspective on a child's health, a teenager or young adult is navigating persistent health concerns, or a New York patient is interested in acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine, Dylan's goal is to provide thoughtful, collaborative care that considers the person rather than simply the symptom.

Cancer care has been a significant part of Dylan’s clinical career. As a Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON®) with extensive experience in pediatric hematology, oncology, and stem cell transplantation, he has cared for children, adolescents, and young adults throughout their cancer journeys from diagnosis and intensive treatment through survivorship and management of the long-term effects of therapy. His experience includes working with patients receiving chemotherapy, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, cellular therapies, and other complex treatments, as well as supporting patients and families through symptom management, recovery, and life after cancer. This background informs his integrative approach to care, with particular attention to the physical and emotional effects of serious illness, treatment-related symptoms, and the changing health needs of cancer survivors. Acupuncture, Chinese medicine, mindfulness, and functional medicine are used, when appropriate, as complementary approaches alongside, not as substitutes for, evidence-based oncology care.
